Teach children how to face challenges - not become vegetables.
This is a planned strategy of developed countries to take away the competitive edge & make Indians as useless. If there are no exams ...how to enculcate the competitive attitude. Kids think about the exams to do better then last time or provide competition to fellow classmates & that's why they study hard. If there are no exams...no positioning in the class... how they will know where they stand in the class & suddently they will have to face 12th board which will result in much more failures & disappointment for both kids & parents. These guys are trying to follow the teaching pattern of western countries but are they aware that uptill (atleast in UK) 6th kids study almost nothing. From 7th all of a sudden there is a exponential increase in the load. Most of the home work & research is done online by kids. Do you think we can have same kind of system. We have more people then jobs available & hence the need for competitiveness, which comes with exams every year & every few months.
To scrap 10th board exams is a recommendation of a committee, still it has to go through many difficult areas and if agreed by all , the board exams may be cancelled, it may take its own time. One need not forget that Germany such a small country, population may be a fraction of india's population, produced more than 100 noble prize winners with the same education system in place even today. To be competitive shoud be basic instinct of every body/ student irrespective of how many board exams are cleared with or with out distinction.
The Western world is lagging behind India and china in educational field now. We should not copy their mistake and throw away our advantage. Let HR Minstry start "special" schools for those few who find exams traumatic instead of lowering the standard of education.
