The Rich Indian Heritage: A Business Approach -Embroidery

Student of MBA

Hello friends, in this Blog I am going to discuses about the business point of view of rich Indian heritage. I know I am so young and don’t have experience to give talk about it, but I would like to share my view here.

Indian Heritage is very vast in nature. We can take a glimpse of it near our city also, it has so many forms, and one form them is Embroidery. Every sate in India is having its own unique kind of embroidery like- Chikankri in Lucknow, Kashidakari in Kashmir and many more.

Embroidery can be a good profit earning business. In Lucknow this business is popular like anything. Some groups of ladies are doing ‘Chikankari’ embroidery as a profession; some entrepreneurs are also there in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Orrisa, Bengal, Punjab and may more who are doing the same business.

Some requirements & limitations of this business are:

Requirement: -

  1. Market: Find out the basic requirement of the customer from the survey of the market.
  2. Finance: One can start the business with some thousands of rupees.
  3. Raw material: find out the whole sale shop to purchase the raw material (threads, fabrics, etc.)
  4. Man Power : Skilled Labour is mandatory (either you can learn your group)
  5. Place : From your home itself

Limitations: -

  1. Time: every business takes time to establish.
  2. Man power: unskilled labour can affect the quality of your output.
  3. Try to follow the Pull business model (‘Make to Sell’ producing those goods which are in demand), not a push model (‘Make to Stock’, producing goods which are not in demand, it will increase your inventory cost & it affects profits badly).
  4. Customer demand is always changing.

These are small tips from my side. You can add more tips & limitations in it, because comment box is for you.
