Anna Hazare’s Victory??

In an unprecedented gesture, Government of India bent backwards to appoint a committee to accommodate the alternate view on Lok Pal bill pending over 42 years  and appointed a joint committee to oversee the drafting of the bill. The luminaries in the agreed list makes me believe the fate of the bill is sealed into litigation before it could proceed to the parliament for its approval. To me the people’s euphoria as a victory of democracy is an illusion and not sure will it really materialize into a bill!! Not withstanding my optimism of people’s power, the bare facts make me believe otherwise.  

 Let’s examine what the government did in the recent past…..it allowed evidence destruction in all the Cases by allowing lot of time to lapse between ordering investigation despite mountain full of evidence. Be it Commonwealth games or 2 G scam. The cases will drag on in the courts for decades and all most all will go scot-free for lack of evidence. The present cases have been filed only after Supreme Court’s intervention and direct day to day investigation. CBI did full media blare raids on the premises of the suspected crooks…….as expected the hard evidence   is destroyed, now only circumstantial evidence would be taken and presented as evidence ….be assured it would not stand the scrutiny of the courts, by then a much bigger scandal will engulf the nation and we all would be worried about it and would have forgotten these cases…….my above argument stands testimony to the fact that Multi-Crore fodder scam  is still pending in the courts …many of the charges not standing the scrutiny as evidence has been willfully destroyed by the investigation, why should we believe the present government will not do the same in the recent scams?

 Coming to the main argument, Mr Salman Khurshid &  Mr Kapil Sibbal to me are the very forces who vocally were defending the un-defendable in 2 G scam. As per these gentlemen, it was wild imagination of the opposition parties in seeing scam in 2 G case, imagine these very same forces drafting Lok Pal bill!! Don’t forget….it was Mr Kapil Sibal who defended the then, Chief Justice of Punjab High Court  Justice Ramaswamy…..in the unprecedented impeachment case taken up in the parliament. Can we trust them??

 Father & son combination  (Shanti Bhushan &  Prasant Bhushan) representing the so called civil society are know for their meteoric foul temperament and uncivil behavior. To me, they represent the other extreme ……..I am for sure the duo would spat with the other duo …we can only suspect the bill will become hostage to the wimps & fancies of the foursome!

 Lastly, I suspect this is a tactical move by the government of the day to buy time pending elections to the 05 assemblies in the next few months.

 Lokpal or no Lokpal……the fundamental change has to come from within the society…..we have stopped respecting people with integrity, merit & morally upright  …instead we only respect money power (not bothered about means of earning) …..And those holding power!  Laloo is more prominent than Anna Hazare!! …….How can you believe a change can come when Congress and DMK despite Rs 2.3 Lac Crore scam are alliance partners?? It means political power is more important at any cost! And law is bigger then morality!! God bless!!

 Electoral reforms, back to the basics on moral values within the society, defeat of  powerful & rich from the immoral brigade  at elections and unprecedented interest of the common man towards societal responsibilities can alter the situation …not just Lokpal bill alone!!  

 (I am sure you guys would have felt discomfort reading the above article, not sharing the euphoria of the media and to a large extent what common people think…….but I do hope I am wrong in my assessment)
