Did Congress work as per common man's wish
Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday said that the Prime Minister as well as the Congress party works according to wishes of common man. 'I want to make one thing very clear to you that our party and ourrime Minister do not work on the order from any organisation. We work on the order of common man. We work on the wishes of people present here,' Sonia Gandhi said at an election rally in Allahabad.
'In India, over 70 percent of the population is aged under 35. Most of them will cast their votes for the first time. I ask them to remember that it was Rajiv Gandhi, who because of his immense faith in the country's youth, had got the minimum voting age reduced to 18,' Sonia said.
'Allahabad has been home to many freedom fighters and leaders, including Rajiv's grandfather and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. So, people of Allahabad have a special duty to fulfill,' she added.
Meanwhile, while addressing a rally in Faizabad, Sonia Gandhi attacked senior BJP leader L. K. Advani. 'May be in their eyes (Bharatiya Janata Party), a strong leader is someone under whom, being a Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, apart from attack on Parliament there were a series of terrorists attacks, and who releases two captured dangerous militants from jail and takes them to Afghanistan as guests,' Sonia said.
Sonia also slammed Bahujan Samaj Party ruled Uttar Pradesh Government for the prevailing state of affairs in the state. 'Every kid in Uttar Pradesh knows that here rule of wealth and greed is prevailing. There is no name of law here. The criminals that should be behind the bars have become candidates of BSP and the government is keeping silence over political killings,' Sonia said.
