Indian Currency symbol- A right move at right time
`
Just few hours ago I downloaded our Indian currency symbol (font) designed by Foradain technology and used it on my computer. It gave me pride & a high feeling more than which I would have had if India would have won the recently held T-20 world cup. It was something parallel to the feeling I would have had if India would have got a permanent seat in the UN security council. I am all praise for Mr D Udaya Kumar who has given us a splendid and cute currency symbol which is equally international in character and truly bears the Indian identity. It is a amalgamation of devanagri “Ra” and Roman “R” and parallel lines representing “ equal to” sign truly symbolizing our ages old doctrine of non discrimination in any form as is rightly said “vasudhaiva kutumbakam” that entire world is a family. Ours is the fifth currency to have its distinct symbol after American $, Britain’s pound sterling, Japan’s yen and Euro. Now we can proudly use our cute symbol ` in place of Rs or INR being used until now.Adopting a distinct symbol for our currency indicate clearly where India want to stand in the global economy. It clearly signals of the expectation and aspiration of the role India want to play in the world. It clearly remind the world where India is heading to.
Adoption of a symbol for its currency by Indian government is a move at perfectly right time. When India is making its presence felt on the international stage in almost all the fields be it our resurgent economy or the sports, technological advancement, film & music industry or growing supremacy in the IT sector.
Kudos to Foradian Technology, which has so promptly, within 24 hrs has come out with the true type font for our currency symbol to enable every one to be able to use our lovely currency symbol.
At this juncture, when India is poised to resurrect its global position to regain its lost glory. When increasing number of Indian are heading the international organizations and global MNCs. When increasing number of Indian scientist, scholars and entrepreneurs are making their presence felt in the global arena. At a time when we are just a few year behind of our honorable Ex President of India Dr Abul Kalam Azad’ dream of making India a developed nation and world superpower by 2020. I wish, at this juncture, if every Indian, specially the younger generation, start taking pride in Indian values and ethos instead of bragging on borrowed values from the western world. The values and ethos which have been nurtured and perfected by the Indus civilization crowned as the mother of all civilization which have the cultural continuity since the 10000 years and which led India for the past 2500 years to be the spiritual and intellectual leader of Asia which means half of the human race. Such a storehouse of values and wisdom is still able to offer unparallel guidance to mankind in its pursuit of excellence in any field. At such a juncture, despite of reaching any milestone and despite of attaining whatever progress, if we can not respect ourselves we certainly will not be able to get respect from the rest of the world.
In my next blog I will try to pen down on, how the current trend of progress with technological advancement is making us loose sight of real achievement which we already have.
