Should Ramalinga Raju be treated as VIP in hospital?
Former Satyam founder Ramalinga Raju has kicked up
another row. Reports indicate that he is being treated as a VIP at the Nizam’s
Institute of Medical Science in Hyderabad where he was admitted following cardiac
complaints.
He
has been allotted a VIP room in the hospital's ICCU - the only prisoner to get
that privilege.
Raju
was admitted to NIMS after he complained of chest pain on Monday evening.
According to the doctors treating him, he is suffering from Hepatitis C and
hypertension.
Normally,
prisoners are allotted beds divided by curtains in a common area and guards are
posted at the entry and exit points. But Raju has been given a separate room
often referred to as 'VIP section'. The room has an attached bathroom with
round the clock attention from doctors.
Raju
also had a family union with his wife Nandini, son Teja Raju and others meeting
him. His close aides were also spotted in the hospital. Home food and special
clothes were also taken into the room, according to sources.
Some
papers were sent in for Raju's perusal. Medical superintendent N Satyanarayana
told the media that Raju had the company of his personal assistant in the ICCU.
Though
the hospital authorities have sealed the area, Raju's one-time close staffers
were able to meet him in the hospital.
