221 plots were allotted , out of which 118 was allotted by Ashok Chavan to relatives, aids and journalists.Many of these were sold to persons already holding one or more plots in the city.

This has lead to reduction in the number of flats released for the lower income groups who are paying through thier nose for the allotted flats.

There was a news item last week about persons allotted land in MHADA last year where asked to pay a much higher amount than the amount they were asked to pay at the time of allotment. I think it was some Rs 15 lakhs on a base price of Rs 34 lakhs (which is a huge amount for a middle class /lower class family ). There was not even a whimper of protest by politicians.

Why cannot be the market value of flats given against the rules be recovered from the owners of the flats and the sale value used for buying flats under MHADA for the lower income groups.

Speaking of land/flat allotments, the allotment of a bungalow for all MPS when they stay in the capital is a criminal waste in the expensive city of

Delhi. Why do not they have a hostel with about 800 rooms for MPS when they stay in the capital. The extra land can be auctioned and money spent on public use.
