I just happened to read the news that “The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) will stage the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty 20 tournament abroad this year owing to security issues.” This decision has been taken after the BCCI failed to secure approval from the government, which said it would be difficult to spare security forces for the duration of the tournament as they would be deployed for the polls.

This news had made me ponder on the impact of the polls on the security necessary for various other activities and people in India. If this is going to be the response of the Government I wonder where and on what next the axe will fall?

Questions such as will government be able to provide security for VIPs including the Ministers at the centre and the state arose. I wonder if the security provided in and around the Tihar jail and all the other prisons dotted around the country could be maintained during an election year.

I then realised that the best solution for providing security to all the individuals, installations and events that need security during an election year is to move them out of the country and host them with some friendly neighbour – though I really wonder if we have any friendly neighbours.

My imagination ran riot at the possibility of shifting all the VIPs as well as the installations including high security cover such as atomic energy stations,prisons requiring security, etc, etc, to a country like England or South Africa.

What next I wonder? In fact being a people’s person and having great concern for the safety of our masses may I suggest that the entire citizenry of our great country be moved out and located in various other countries to ensure a risk free election? Or better still, Lets move out the whole bunch of politicians irrespective of their political colouring and we will have a peaceful country.
