Naomi Campbell walks ramp for 26/11 Mumbai victims
International supermodel Naomi Campbell will walk the ramp at the the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai March 27-31 in aid of victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist strikes, the organisers said Monday.
To be hosted March 28 jointly by Campbell and US-based hotelier Vikram Chatwal (who will present the show), the proceeds from the show 'Mai Mumbai' (I, Mumbai), will benefit the families of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai blasts, said a press statement Monday.
'Mai Mumbai' will bring together international and Indian fashion designers and the clothes will be donated for a charity auction.
Naomi Campbell has been associated with charity since 2005 when her project - Fashion for Relief launched during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York - raised funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
'Fashion for Relief (through 'Mai Mumbai') is a great step towards healing the Indian and the world communities,' Chatwal said.
Vikram Chatwal Hotels is part of the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), an organisation founded by a group of Mumbai citizens like Alyque Padamsee, Javed Akhtar, Rahul Bose and several other Bollywood celebrities and social workers devoted to rehabilitation of victims of mass crimes.
