When "Jugaad" Doesn't Work!
Referring to the blog post by Japan P. Varia [Document Controller at Reliance] titled Be the Change You Want to See!, here's what I have to say.
Speaking about the whole thing, we all have one thing that every true Indian has in common.
Situation-fixing-strategy commonly known as Jugaad. This strategy is many-a-times very useful such as if you want to use your bike just for the next 2 months, then we may still run on those rugged and worn-out tyres that we have in our bikes, just for the reason that we just have to sell it in the next 2 months and then we'll get a new one.
But that is what our problem is!!! We sometimes overdo this strategy. as Japan P. Varia suggests by his article that a normal PC in Sleep Mode can consume 35 Watts per Hour. This strategy is quite useful when the PC is to be left unused for say just an hour. But as he says that in most companies, out of the week as a whole, for only 68 hrs, the PC is used, out of 168. This wastes just about 21,000 Indian Rs. This may not seem a big amount to multinational companies, but on the other hand, view it as a loss of 35,000 kWh of power which can at least power 20 villages for a week!!!
In the Mumbai Attacks, the police forces were ill-prepared about the operation. They had sub-standard bullet-proof jackets, were ill-armed with outdated guns and ammunition. This is what a negative Indian Jugaad can do! In India, even a 12-year old can yell out the names of more-sophisticated weapons like Kalashnikov AK-47, American M4A1, Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher etc. from the games that he plays!!! This is what the condition India suffers from.
Try telling a child about this attack and what all happened as a story about evil terrorists and he'll say, "Main na un sabko banduk se maar dunga, un pe bam gira dunga aur sabko Krissh jaise bacha lunga".
What we can do is change the system that does all the nonsense. We, citizens have to do it on our part to educate ourselves about how this cruel actions are carried out and how can we protect ourselves from such attacks. When the government and the outdated police can't help, we'll do what it takes to make our own country, our Bhaarat better!
Jai Hind!
