The Minister who allotted the spectrum is still in Tihar Jail with some of his alleged accomplices and the daugther of DMK patriach  a serving Member of Parliament. Extra ordinary efforts were taken to deny even a bail to these people with even SC declining to grant one such . An atmosphere exists even now if bail is granted, it will be perceived that it is unjust. The accused have already been proclaimed guilty. In Narendra Modi case, after SIT and Amicus Curae submitted their reports, SC directed they be sent to the magistrate court to commence trial and withdrawn further monitoring. In this case, even after trial has commenced, SC continues to insist that they willmonitor the case which will not ensure a fair trial for the accused.

Fresh controversy has erupted by a file noting sent to PMO provided to an RTI activist by PMO itself which was forwarded by a Dy.Director in Ministry of Finance with words that the note is seen by FM. This note claims that the then FM Mr.Chidambaram could have, had he thought fit cancelled all the licences and therey by ensured that the notional loss ever occured. All the guns are now trained on Chidambaram whose personal integrity is as clean as the PM himself although PM;s admirers believe otherwise. There has been a sinister conspiracy to sideline this brave man who has acquitted himself creditably which I even suspect the PM to be an architect of. Mr.Chidambaram is the man who has made direct taxes the largest revenue earner instead of indirect taxes through his people friendly tax administration and simplified laws. He has policed the state with admirable skill with minor abberations not withstanding after having been shunted out to lead Home Ministry with the fond hope that he will be a disaster Much to the chagrin of those who expected him to fail he delivered and he delivered impeccably. This is is another story.

Let us come to CAG estimates of losses. the total losses surmised are sum of three different methodologies of spectrum valuation,. only one of them could be applied at a time and not all. Assuming for a moment that indeed CAG has been so meticulous in quantifing the losses at 170000 crores a simple math would prove how idiotic such a cliam is.

The combined revenue of all telecom companies in India- leave alone those allegedly favored by Raja could not be more than say 50000 crores.  again let us assume that the incremental revenue due to 2G allocation is 50%, then the incremental revenue is 25000 crores. Now at 30% EBIDTA and 20% PAT, the cashflows and profit from such an investment will be 7500 crores and 5000 crores. Now if as alleged by CAG an investor pays 170000 crores to acquire this asset called spectrum he will have to wait for 34 years to recover his investment at current prices. Tell me in a country where farmers are allegedly parking their farm loan priced at 2% in Term deposits fetching 4% to get arbitrage income, will any sane person ever pay and acquire such an asset? How is that no one understands this simple math and cry over roof top that Raja robbed the country. Your lordships may ponder over this and stop wasting the time of the court. There are many more imporant things to be supervised. Planning commission affidavit claiming that Rs.25 is enough to be above BPL, rotting of grains in warehouses, the pilfrages in PDS, the targeted subsidy system to rob thepoor of India where the elitist middle class has already entered surreptiously through many of its agents. They need to be protected your lordships. Let the business rivalry not claim victims.
