I have a high regard for Rahul for his approach to problems confronting the party and the nation. He has like his father been able to connect to the masses in an unassuming way. He worked hard in both the elections to redeem a party lost forever in wilderness after the Babri Masjid demolition- which I believe was allowed to happen in the first instance to relieve the party from the iron fold of Nehru family. Rahul has had a long probation for a politician Akhilesh was annointed successor in a short political career by his father and the vote bank politics which put bach SP in to power was credited to him. Rahul is the man to whom every party worker waits with batted breath to reclaim the magic of yesteryears. 

He could take over the reins of the party as an independent Vice President and could reorganise the party on all india level. He could invigorate the youth of the nation with his radical ideas and his down to earth concern for the poor. But never he should get in to this cabinet under MMS. He could unwittingly play in to the hands of power brokers and self seekers who would like to use him to settle scores with MMS- the outsider and usurper for the long time party men. MMS has led a disastrous government so far. While UPA-II happened because of the social welfare programs of Sonia,MMS thought it was he who was instrumental in Congress getting a larger mandate. After a series of scandals some of which are overblown,and failures in the economic front, MMS today is a man battered and bruised. Working under him will discredit Rahul. Instead Sonia could think of replacing MMS with some one like Chidambaram for a couple of years before the final battle. Chidambaram I am sure will be able to bring back economy to the growth track in a short time for he is known for his bold decision and hardwork. That would be a honor to the untiring efforts of man in dhoti who had always been loyal to Gandhi family. Rahuls time is in 2014. He can wait till then.
