DELIVERING PROMISES
AIADMK Supremo Jayalalitha Jayaram was catapulted to power only because of her proximity to late MG Ramachandran, the mationee idol turned politician who became a joint legatee of Dravidian politics together with M Karunanidhi the leader of DMK who was helped by MGR to defeat Nedunchezian the favored brother of CN Annadurai. But Jayalalitha had a great entry, and was made a succesor to MGR sidelining many other claimants because of her cinematic charisma. She always read uninspring speeches ghost written for her by late Solai and she was assidiouly promoted as a heir apparant. That is a long story. But she has admirers in the media that few leaders in Independent India had. She had her charm extending to all corridors of power transcening party lines. Ever since she landed in politics, Tamil nadu politics have sunk to low levels.
Last time when she fought elections, 2G scam was used to defame DMK and she promised to restore regular power supply which was disrupted for a few hours within months. She also claimed that anti social elements fearing her return to power have escaped to neighbouring states.
16 months after she assumed power, she is still busy working out plants to eliminate DMK, foiser cases on their leaders, and has neglected administration. We have 14 hours of power cut in many parts of Tamil nadu with no repiste in site. Robbery,Murders are regular features. Yet media is stil silent on her monumental failure to deliver on her promises.
Had DMKbeen inpower, these people would have pounced on Karunanidhi like wolves.
Tamil nadu could have attempted novel methods to mitigate the power crisis.. We could study the consumption pattern across the various parts of tamilnadu and impose 2 day power holiday in each of the zones in a turn system. This will ensure uninterrupted power supply for atleast 5 days a week. Uniform load shedding is another demand of the industry. Having increased power traiff manifold and failing to supply power to consumer is one of the most ineffieicent form of governance not found in any Indian State in Independent India's history.
The media should be fair to highlight the failure of the government and should not be biased.
the writing is on the wall is clear for those who claimed to have voted for change and now loudly thinking if indeed this was the change they wanted
