PHIR BI DHIL ME HINDUSTANI -II

One has to visit the states of UP and Bihar to witness the utter misery of our people. I happened to be in Mughalsarai for a while when on a trip to Varanasi. The multitude of people lying on the platform is a pitiful sight which will touch any conscience. Trains coming from Bihar are full of people most of them travelling ticketless not that they are not law abiding but because they can not afford to pay. The condition of the railway platform was so bad which will snatch away a sizeable portion of our tourist traffic if only those who throng Beneras, the oldest living city are shown the conditions of human beings. How on earth we proclaim ourselves to be a growing economy with the disparities between the haves and have nots widening at a frentic pace never to be bridged still baffles me. The Congress party had been running the affairs of the country for over half a century now. Till a decade back, it was either a Tiwari,Shukla or Bahuguna who was donning the mantle of CM of the populous state in India. Centre have invested crores of rupees in the state to alleviate the suffering of the masses through creation of jobs. Private Sector Sugar mills like Balrampur Chini and Bajaj Hindustan have invested heavily in this state. Yet the misery of the people have gone from bad to worse all these years. The HPJ pipeline passes through this state. There is BHEL, ITI, DLW and heavy industry in Public Sector yet the people here are perhaps no better than those living in impoverished African countries. The Congress party had done precious little to the people who voted them to power all these years. I am an ardent Congress man .Admirer of the Nehru family and yet I feel that this first family let us down badly. Unfortunately, the alternative before us the right wing BJP has still not shed its communal agenda. The third alternative consists of regional outfits each with their own selfish agenda and led by the undependable Leftists with extra territorial loyalties. I am looking around for our savior like all my fellow country men who will attend to the poor masses as Gandhi did in pre independent days and as Nanaji Deshmukh still does in rural UP. Till such time we attend to the basis amenities of life of our rural masses, I think all this talk of development, and emerging market is useless tinsel.
