VICTIM OF CONSPIRACY
BJP's first Karnataka CM, Mr.Yeddyurappa had to quit following an indictment by Lok Ayukta Sri. Hegde. CM was un willing to relent because the report was evidently biased. Mr.Santosh Hegde has cited the reciept of donations for a family trust from a logistic company not in mining and related to JSW who also do not have mining licences in Karnatka as a quid pro quo. He has also cited another instance of some of his kin selling land valued at 2 crores at a hefty 20 crores. These are mere insinuations. Worse, the Lok Ayukt has recommended prosecution in the report submitted to the Governor. there are some doubts in my mind as to the way the report was leaked to the press and forwarded to the Governor. The Governor is only a constitutional head of state and the Lok Ayukta was commissione by the council of ministers through CM to inquire in to mining in Karnatka without valid licences. the report deviated from the mandate and also the report need to have been sent to the CM who would then table it in the house. when the terms of reference was set by the council of ministers the report should also go to them. But Hegde chose to sent it to CM's bete noire the Governor- Hansraj Bharadwaj whose earlier attempts to destabilise CM failed miserably.
Mr.Hegde has a tendency to go public on everything he feels. A man holding such a constitutional office is not expected to participate in TV debates and discuss issues which he has been entrusted to investigate. Where is then the fairness?
CM has challenged the jurisdiction of the Lok Ayukta to recommend prosecution and let us wait . Yeddyurappa had done admirably well and had earlier quelled a rebellion by the Reddy brothers who are the real villains in mining scam.
