    Economist turned PM Dr.Manmohan Singh is on an official visit to the state of Jammu and Kashmir believed to be part of Indian Union but treated differently. He has spoken about the need to ensure human rights and bring to book the perpetrators of such inhuman acts as fake encounters to kill civilians. The media also highlights the plight of Kashmiri Muslims due to alleged excesses committed by our Armed forces. Siddarath Varadarajan has written a lengthy article in The Hindu castigating the present and previous NDA regime in not alleviating the grief of a mother who lost her son in such an encounter years ago. reams and reams of paper are used to write about the need to engage the militants in the valley and justify people like Mehbooba Mufti who could be tried elsewhere for treason for her blatant violation of constitution. She and her father Mufti talked about accepting Pakistani currency. She fought like a wounded tigress when Shopian murder case was reopened as if women are not raped elsewhere in our country. One Comrade late Nayanar observed that rape is as common as sipping tea in the united States of America.

    Jammu and Kashmir became part of Indian Union following the instrument of accession signed by Maharaja Harisingh erstwhile ruler of J & K. While Hyderabad was united through what C Rajagopalachari called a police action, the Hindu subjects of a muslim ruler accepted the decision, the razakkar rebellion not withstanding. But the Muslim subjects of a Hindu ruler resented this decision and always wanted to have independence. Azad Kashmir today is a stooge of Pakistan. But for a soviet Veto, we could have lost J & K forever since Nehru and his idiotic Foreign Minister VK Krishna Menon took the issue to UN only to order a plebiscite. We may argue that successive state assembly elections with massive turnout are equivalent of a plebiscite. But the fact remain that we are afraid of those who advocate sessionsm in Kashmir. What about article 370 of India which grants special status to this state. Every act extends to the whole of India except the State of J & K and what you call this? an elected parliament can not legislate for its people in J & K who need to ratify any such legislation. How long are we going to appease them? How long are we going to barter our self respect and honor? People want army to be reined in. then militants will rule the roost in the valley. Jagmohan claimed that he won Kashmir for India from militants. It was because he was dealing with them tough. Girish Saxena faced flak for allowing building of temporary shelter for Amarnath Yatris when militant outfits took the issue to streets. 

     

    It is time we take a fresh look at our policy. Either we retain Kashmir rightfully with an iron fist. Or we allow them to have their own government through a plebicite. Narasimha Rao was forth right when he said the unfinished agenda in J & K is taking back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. We should aim at that and not get cowed down by threats from Islamic world. Even while executing a hard core conspirator and anti national like Afzal Guru this government fears a backlash. How spineless. We need more Generals like Thimmiah to educate our politicians that it is of no use talking peace with militants armed with deadly weapons. Mao said prophetically Power flows from the barrels of the Gun. If it is true for China it should be true for India also.Marxists and their friends always claim China model of development but if we are forced to follow Chinese model of facing dissension, they should be silent
