Model worthy of emulation
I have always been fascinated by Kerala- the God's own country. I am a tamil by birth but I have some ancestral linkages to Kerala through my father.
Kerala is a land of plenty. It is said Parasuram carved this state by throwing his axe. It is also believed that Demon King Mahabali( Maveli for Keralites) provided an administration much to the envy of Devendra. It is believed that Maveli comes around from Pathal loka to where he was confined by Mahavishnu in his Vaman Avatar during the time of Onam to find his subjects happy.
Kerala is highly literate. Keralites are hardworking people. You find many craftsmen from this state. You can find Keralites in any corner of the world. There is a saying that Armstrong found a Nair Tea Shop when he set foot in the moon. Keralites do all sorts of work from bureacrats to lowly paid craftsmen. We have had civil servants, powerful secretaries from the State. It is strange that all India's Prime Ministers had keralites as their private secretaries starting with MO Mathai for Nehru, PC Alexander for Indira Gandhi, Vincent George for Rajiv and Sonia, Nair for Dr.Manmohan singh. We have MK Narayanan as NSA, Tharakan as IB Chief, Mr.Nair as principal secretary to PMO. All powerful men who decide our policies.
Kerala population consists of Hindus , Muslims and Christians in almost equal measure. The state is a picture of harmony. Onam is celebrated across all communities and every one believes the legend of Parasuram and Maveli. Every one takes pride in saying that Kerala is the birth place of Adi Sankara.
Resul Pookutty who along with AR Rehman became the third Indian to win an oscar( including Satyajit Ray who won it for life time achievement) and he attributed it to God. He said that he came from a land which gave culture, silence and word preceding silence- OM to the world. the beauty is Resul Pookutty is a devout Muslim. That is the beauty of Kerala
