THE UNFRIENDLY NEIGHBOUR
Our former Defence Minister George Fernandez was candid enough when he warned that China is our No.1 enemy. He was hauled over the coals for uttering this simple truth. Nehru sold his Panchsheel to Chau-en-Lai only to be backstabbed by the Peoples liberation army which annexed large tracts of Indian Territory. When Om vir Tyagi sought to bring a private members bill to reclaim this land, Nehru had retorted that not a blade of grass grow over there. Our soverignity was compromised to maintain Nehru's image of a peace dove.
the Communist movement in India had the famous split on the side of Indo China war with the communists( Marxists) openy taking sides with Mao Tse Dung while SA Dange took orders from the erstwhile Soviet Union. In the liberalised economy, Government of India sought to impose curbs on Chinese investment and also vetoed ideas to hire Chinese labor in indian contracts by Chinese companies which was objected by our comrades One of the main grouse of Marxists to India signing Nuclear deal with USA was to thwart any attempt that would make India fight as an US Ally to check the growing influence of China. The hiterto die hard Marxists saw merit in Deng Xio Pings quote of cats catching mice irrespective of the color promoted many private Investments in W.Bengal.
An Editorial In Indian Express has revealed that due to growing influence of China, they had the temerity to block a ADB assistance for an irrigation project in Arunachal. We had heard claims of China on this territory. Recently requirements for Visa for Indian nationals from Arunachal were done away with as if it forms part of People's Republic of China. At that time our MEA Mr Pranab Mukherjee gave a peace of his mind to the powers that be by summoning the Chinese Envoy to his office. This time China has blocked funds for a peoples project. This is high time we exposed indian leftists who have little concern for our people. Will Comrades Prakash Karat and Brinda Karat explain thier stand to the people of India ?
