What this nation wants are quality people with a difference! This is just a passing show!!
I do not get much time to read deep into the current day newspapers in India. I started reading an English Newspaper from 1970 onwards. I can more or less remember the variety of themes that have been there, that came with the brightness of splashing lightning and then vanished without a sign left to remember them.
I do not think that this Anna phenomenon is anything different from it. I am not saying that he is a fake or someone without real altruistic aims. The problems here are much different more complicated.
1. India suffers from feudal vernaculars, that despoils the nation, the majority population, and more or less justifies corruption
2. The quality of the people is low, even though they may be highly moral and ethical.
3. The system that Anna can create shall be only a real replication of what is currently available in India.
4. The people who have jumped into the bandwagon are also of questionable quality. For example, there is one IPS female. She herself would be earning a king’s ransom as pension and may earned the same as salary. How this can be justified, she will not have the time to ponder on.
5. Bombay has a huge sex market, wherein girls and woman are lured, or kidnapped and sold. When she was the Commissioner of Police in Bombay, she could have stopped it. She did not. The reality of this sex market is really terrible. Not one media in Bombay would even dare to think about it.
6. When she was a police officer, how many corrupt police officials has she punished. She simply stood as a supporter of the system.
7. None of the campaigners seem to support English. All one need to do in India is to educate the majority population English. Then many things happen: One, the quality of the people goes up. Second: the repulsion for the common Indian for the higher Indian goes down. There is less need to be corrupt. Three: The common man may can become more articulate and check corruption then and there.
8. Then above all, there is the issue of craving for leadership in India. Everyone wants to be a leader or some other such being. For without being someone here, a person can be a ‘no one’.
There are many basic issues which I cannot write over here, that are gnawing at India. If anyone is interested, they can download this pdf page:The fence eating the crops! (Right Click & Save As)
