Sunday is a Holiday

I have always tried to explain the mood that a holiday can groom. How often do we get into a lethargic mood on a Sunday? I have always fancied an early rise productive Sunday. But, almost always Sunday is a laid back, lazy, unproductive day. Was holiday meant to be that way? My pocket dictionary defines holiday as “a period of recreation”. I hope that definitely doesn’t mean lethargy! Recreation, relaxation, doing anything different from a work day, are all fine options. And doing things differently from a normal work day could also ignite the creative genius in all of us.

A company like 3M consistently produce innovative products (like the popular ‘post it notes’), by offering their employees the freedom of spending 15 percent of their time to unleash their creativity.  I’m sure we can all spend our Sundays to tap our own creative hotspots. Not that sleeping in the early hours of a Sunday is bad. I love sleeping, and I can sleep for hours without guilt. I have heard Gabriela Sabitini, the former Argentinean tennis legend say that sleeping is her hobby. And we never know if sleeping is the best way to spend a Sunday. Or is it just a myth that we need to give the body the much deserved physical rest on a Sunday?

Doing as many different things and living life in as many different ways are some of the options we should have in our lives. Life is a lovely challenge and as some people say, a lovely journey. And this journey cannot escape Sundays. I’m looking forward to a lazy, fun filled, productive Sunday! Oops, India versus England cricket match is also in the offering? Productive, recreational or entertaining?
