Citation style can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of academic writing. However, it is essential. To be a good researcher you need to give appropriate credit to other's work and acknowledge their ideas. Universities refer different citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago) as per their guidelines. And students get engrossed in the minor differences in various citation formats. You can download sample formats from university’s website to access the guidelines of different citing styles. Some professional consultancies like Regent Editing share sample formatted papers to give a clear understanding of citation in different styles. If you are first time author, these guidelines and formats can be superficial information for you.

To make your work simpler and less time-consuming, all you need is a click of a button, with some simple and easy-to-use online citation tools. There is a long list of software programs available that commit to a better productivity in the thinking, writing and remembering of the research details. Not all of them live up to the promise that they make. However, there are a few of them that are worthy of your time spent.

My institution has a license for Evernote, so I’ve always just used that if I used the software at all! It offers options like typing of notes, collecting clippings, documents images, PDF and can be stored in the online account of  Evernote and can be accessed anywhere from the smartphone” , says Genelia Palmer, a research fellow, University of .........

The ever note is now also available on your smart phones. The expanding material on Evernote can be tagged in such a way that it remains accessible from anywhere.
