One thing which has really influenced the society, and very effectively convinces the society to accept things in the same way they are presented to them, is none other than the Media. No doubt media has effected our culture and has very much changed it .Culture is the mirror of society ,it is the culture which reflects our morals , our values and it also shows our way of living and our beliefs. Media is an influential entity in our culture today and if we deny the fact then we are trying to lie.

We can never hide the fact that media has also emerged as an important element for developing the society and making our culture more better and clear .Its only because of media that we are able to transmit the important information related to education , technologies, health ,politics etc to different part of the world.

Media has also played an important role and has given many positive developments in a fight against racism, gender bias, poverty etc. Undoubtedly media has very effectively spread the message of world peace and awareness about many diseases and illness.

Media has its own powers, media creates celebrities, and it creates idols. It is media which make things, people popular. Here media does not mean only journalism, television and movies are also involved in it. Many a times we hear that the movie was good and within no time we can see our surroundings following the theme or some or the other character of the movie this is how the movie was a hit and thus the crew of the movie were celebrities. In present scenario media is trying to give a good thought to the society by many of the family morals serials and films. There are also some of the educational programmes which can actually help the children. We also have to keep in mind that the messages passed by the media are at times detrimental, for example we might have noticed that violent acts and abusive rap songs are very popular among the teenagers. They are highly influenced by the violence and the stunts shown in them. The drugs abuse and other unhealthy habits are also gift of our media only. It has been noticed that for a very silly cause youths get aggressive and become extremely violent and out of control.

Being bold and extrovert is the demand of today’s time but that does not mean to forget our morals and values and originality. Every channel of media may not be appropriate as the rock star and their bands, some programmes openly give the message that alcohol, violence undue freedom, drugs are inevitable part of life. Many a times the television shows and films, portray violence, sexually explicit content and abusive language, which influences the mind of the teens and they start following it in their routine life.

Media has been playing a role of an important pillar for the upliftment and development of the society .At the same time many unfavourable things have also been witnessed in media which are trying to destroy the society. Today we are on the stage that media literacy is the need of an hour. If we really want to make media our strongest pillar of the developing society then we really need to put an eye on what media is serving out to us, and in which manner. What will be its after effects and how will it be helpful in creating a good civilized culture
