Symbiosis introduces Two year MBA in Banking Management
In wake of the banking sector being on a high growth trajectory, Symbiosis has dedicated a new institute - Symbiosis School of Banking Management (SSBM). SSBM will offer a two year MBA program in Banking Management, which will encompass functional areas of finance and accounting, marketing, HR management, etc. The registration for admission to this program has commenced on May 30 and will close on June 21 2010. It has an intake capacity of 50 students.
“This program has been designed as a contemporary, rigorous, innovative and practical source of management education. It would cater to the growing needs of the financial system, on a regular basis and provide a pool of talented young executives who should be thoroughly trained in Foundations, Analytical Skills, and Perspectives in Banking and Finance, so that they are fully prepared to shoulder managerial responsibilities in the banking and financial sector,” says Principal Director, SSBM.
Program Structure
The MBA in Banking and Finance is a two-year, residential program. According to SSBM, the curriculum covers the basic functional areas of finance and accounting, marketing, human resource management, strategic planning, management and control, and rural finance. The basic principles of economics, behavioral sciences, rural finance, information technology and quantitative methods will be taught in the context of management. Specialized inputs in banking and finance would form a major part of the curriculum.
A project work of about eight to 10 weeks duration on a real life situation in an organization, after the completion of first year, would form an integral part of the program. In addition, one project of social relevance and one specialized project in banking and finance are mandatory which is to be completed during the Program.
The program will follow the semester pattern with two semesters in each year i.e. four semesters in two years.
Selection process
Students will be selected on the basis of a written test followed by group discussion and Personal Interview.
The written test will be held on Sunday, July 4, 2010. Graduates with minimum 50 per cent marks can apply.
How to apply
Students are required to register for the program online before Tuesday, June 22, 2010. After getting registered the candidates will be offered the admit cards for the written test. The 180 marks test will comprise of 150 questions from the subjects like General English, Quantitative Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, and General Awareness, General Knowledge and Analytical & Logical Reasoning.
Fee structure
The annual fee is Rs. 3,90,000 for Indian merits students and Rs. 6,45,000 for Indian sponsored students.
SSBM is the youngest member of the family of Symbiosis International which consists of 19 other institutes running under it.
