External PR helps build internal Employer Brand
Recently we did a dip-stick poll to check how external PR impacts the
employees. With a participation of over 10% of the employees in the
poll this would be a fairly good sample size. The findings were
interesting:
• Over 86.8% of the employees track the company news
• Over 92% employees feel a sense of pride when they see/read positive news on Mastek
• Over 42 % employees families track news on the company
• Over 60% employees have heard about company news from their family/friends
Clearly what the media says about the organization is important from the Employer Brand perspective. From this it can also be assumed that negative news on the company can have an adverse impact on the Employer Brand .
These are the intangible impacts PR as a communication tool has on building the employer brand mostly this has been discounted and not even measured by most organizations.
There is another aspect that is critical to understand, if there is hype that is built up by PR which is not grounded in reality as employees see it – it can backfire on the organization. This would impact the management credibility. It is important that as an organization you walk the talk.
