Taj / Trident to reopen…
The Oberoi Trident reopened today (20/12) and Taj is reopening tomorrow after the 26/11 affray. I don’t know what the significance of this event is, its not a big deal to be very honest.
Its almost been a month since the unfortunate event took place.
People praise Mumbai’s never say die spirit, and it makes for good reading. But in the end Mumbai has constantly been hurt so many times that we have lost our humane side.
People were back after the entire episode to resume work, trains were full again and it was traffic as usual. Did anyone have a choice? What else could people have done, come and protest against the government, the lack of preparation or the uselessness of the authorities or the helplessness of the situation….
Ratan Tata has been very vocal in his criticism of the way the entire problem was handled, I don’t blame him, he will not be gloating with pride or smirking when the Taj reopens. It’s just another day for him and to be honest the callousness of the people will remain unchanged.
From what I’ve read I guess most tables have already been booked. So these two iconic hotels may have faced the wrath of the terrorists but its no stopping them now, not because it’s a show of solidarity but more because it’s a decision by default.
PEACE
