Pradeep Saran's Story

The Journey So Far:
Started from a shop floor supervisor in Automobile Accessories Mfg. (API) I switched over to Scheduling/Process Planning in HAL Lko. As middle level Manager in Airframe mfg. & assy in HAL Kanpur. Rotated to Quality as DGM in HAL Kanpur. Independent charge of Instruments Shop HAL Lko & AGM HAL Korwa
Job Profile:
Advising MSMEs about steps to be taken to increase productivity, Lean measures, Consistent processes, emerging markets, customer focus and adherence to Quality.
The Decisions That Matter
The strategies adopted to meet the production targets. Tough decisions to rotate manpower, to re-organize departments in critical moments, to take-(make and buy) decisions, off-load important work.
Degrees That Matter:
A basic degree in Engineering, Certification in ISO procedures, Certification in management courses.
Working Life Management:
Effective utilization of time by delegating responsibility, building up good cross functional teams, giving clear and precise instructions and regular monitoring. Use of mobile and LAN_WAN networks in office & home, mentoring and regularly training of staff. A healthy diet & practicing REIKI
Done Differently:
Yes. Life itself is a process of continuous learning and with the knowledge & experience, with the paradigm shift in life, work and society the actions will be entirely different.
Plans For The Future:
As per the current thought process the time is now to give back to society what I have learnt from it. I wish to be a good social worker, a mentor, a helper to the talented younger generation. A advisor to the politicians, bureaucrats, NGO's or others who look for expert assistance.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
Innovated a process of Stretch Forming of thin Aluminium Alloy Leading edge skins for Aircraft Control Surfaces with in house modification of existing Hydraulic Presses in HAL.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
From an era of Established Processes, Mass production and monopoly to an age of Opportunities, practices and agility. The focus on Quality from as designed by producer to as required by consumer. From a fixed price of cost+profit to a fixed cost as demanded by the market forces.
Other Thoughts:
I have always learnt from the boss. There are no good or bad bosses. It is the way we interpret their actions that make them look so. Every boss who appears tough in the beginning becomes the favourite after proper understanding. The more bosses you come across the more you learn.

Advice For New Professionals:
Forget that you know everything. First study the work place, learn the job, do it yourself then think of innovative ways to improve. Study the habits of the boss and pick up at least one good trait from each one. Never never refuse work. Before acting be convinced that what is demanded is essential
Role Model:
Thomas Alva Edison. What matters is not Knowledge derived from books but by logical thinking. Perseverance, dedication to work and not being disturbed or upset with failures. The ability to choose between different alternatives in the most adverse circumstances and inspire & lead a team of people
