Who says Parliament is not Supreme
Yes everyone is of the same opinion. None of members of or followers of Team Anna has ever demanded that the act be passed on road. It is the imaginary dispute created by media and some of corrupt Members of Parliament.
Team Anna and its followers have all love and respect for Parliament and hence they are not trying to stall the proceedings of Parliament but they are trying to build pressure on Members of Parliament to understand the dangerous form of corruption and frame a hard and effective act to properly and effectively deal with corrupt persons.
But unfortunately it is Member of Parliament who have made mockery of Parliament by their actions and indifference to genuine demand and grievance of common men who are real victim of cancer of corruption. MPs seldom discuss any issue in Parliament and it is undeniably true that most of prominent bills are passed without debate or discussion. If MPs are really interested to discuss the bill, why most of important parties have issued Whip to their members.
Coming events cast their shadow before. Draft of Lokpal bill introduced in Parliament by ruling party has proved it like crystal clear that Ruling party is not serious to punish corrupt people; rather they are inclined to save their corrupt colleagues. And most of corrupt elected MPs are directly or indirectly not in support of strong Lokpal. Due to this they are changing the agenda of corruption to self created agenda whether Team Anna is backed by BJP or RSS or whether Anna going for fast in Mumbai is good or bad .
Parliament is Supreme and meant for making laws. But people of India and voters of India are the real owner of Parliament. People of India have every right to monitor the activities of MPs whom they elected. After all it is people of India who elect Members of Parliament.
All MPs and all aspirants of becoming MP go for begging votes on the eve of election. They go door to door to canvass votes, they organize and address public rally to win the hearts of voters, and they organize corner meetings on road to popularize them. It is shameful that they completely forget voters and common men once they are elected and deny the role of public movement and try to ignore the views of common men on vital issues.
It is more disheartening to note that media called as protector of democracy are also supporting those MPs who are not giving due respect to Parliament. It is ironical that persons like Lalu who completely ridiculed the value and decency of Parliament is portrayed as Hero for Parliament.
Last but not the least, none of MPs represents the majority of real voters. Based on hardly 25% of total votes, a person is elected as MP and hence 75% of voters are opposite to the ideas and ideology of elected MP. They cannot claim to be representative, absolute representative of people of India.
To add fuel to fire, it is undoubtedly bitter truth for Parliament that it is India where most of MPs are elected based on caste and communities and hence the ideology is totally neglected by MPs. Such elected MPs cannot claim honestly that they are absolute followers of principles of democracy.
I therefore hope that elected MPs will introspect within themselves and do what is reasonable to curb corruption and not try to puncture on going public movement against Corruption on flimsy ground.
I would like to reiterate that Team Anna have full respect for dignity of Parliament and media should not try to create confusion on this point and not try to mislead people of India by organizing debates on TV. Lastly if media can discuss the issue, people of India under the banner of Team Anna or Ramdeo are also right in their way to discuss the issue and focus the prime issues in the interest of the country.
