In last sixty years of independence we have transferred this nation from a country of bull carts & snake charmers to nation full of talent .Changed the national image to that of a fast growing country bubbling with talented engineers, mangers scientist’s corporate leaders set to lead the world. Today our educated engineers & mangers are among most respected on the planet but unfortunately most of us have become threat to ourselves! Threat to the very nation who gave us our engineering degrees.

It has been a general belief that most vital element for Optimum performance of democracy is education .I salute & appreciates the contribution we all professional and business leaders have made to the nation but some where we are still a bigger threat to ourselves, which we all need to fix. In Indian pretext contrary to the common belief I have been observing how we have made the nation & ourselves vulnerable to security threat. Know I will like to take you straight to what I have been observing as a threat, how big this threat is & how we can fix it.

THREAT

On a understanding that education is vital to individual & national growth since last 60 years we have given required emphasis on it, may be not in quality but definitely in quantity majority of our cities villages are today flooded with schools & colleges .On individual front we gained a lot from it but to this democracy we have betrayed it after making a good career success out our education. In the process of economic upturn in last few decades we have all realized importance of hiring quality people for a successful & secure business. We have put specialized HR departments to hire & retain talent so as not to compromise with business .A good HR people means hiring better people in turn creating a better company, so start with a better HRD is a must. Going on the same line in democracy every eligible voter is a HRD for the nation. On independence we inherited a poor HRD for the nation ,as most of the eligible voters were illiterate but it was expected as years goes by more eligible voters (HR people for the nation) will get educated to be able to hire right kind of people to run this country. But contrary to this as we got educated earned our professional degrees capture our positions in corporate we stopped voting leavening the vital job of hiring people to run this nation of 100 crore plus headcount in hand of not so talented /educated and result is Bomb blast at Jaipur, surat, Banglore, Delhi, Ahemdaba one after one Than the attack on Mumbai .We capable people did not exercised our right to vote those who were not that capable chose irresponsible politicians or politicians got chance to fool them. In a scenario when majority of the people were uneducated a portion of the lot (though illiterate or not so educated than) was still intelligent sensible and better among the rest & was putting there this quality in hiring better politicians. when education started peaking this small intelligent sensible lot was first to get educated & have made successful economic growth for themselves but in the process this lot of eligible voters stopped voting (after all coming out of AC homes & offices who wants to get in que along with the masses to vote) . In this scenario even that group of intelligent & sensible but not so educated eligible voter also became dormant & our democracy was left with still more not so capable voter’s .Resultant is the security threat from all around.

Two days after Mumbai terrorist & few days before Rajasthan state assembly election I was travelling through interior villages of the sate & got chance to interact with the real voters who is not so well educated & not so successful economically but are the one who chose leaders to rule us through polices (politicians)they make, is to fool & please these masses. In every village I asked the same two questions 1. Will Mumbai attack affect ur voting choice? 2. what are criterions on the basis of which you chose your leader? you will be shocked majority was not concerned by attack on Mumbai & rest of cites they felt it dint happened in their village , no one of them died in it, & even those who were concerned were not willing to put pressure on politicians through the vote .it’s not going to make effect in their voting . They were more interested to vote person of their cast & community undermining all other parameters. With we have left job of selecting leaders totally in the hands of such masses, how can u expect politicians to be sensitive enough to security threat to us after all they just have to fool masses through cast divide to come in power again . Infact we are to be blamed morethan than anyone for all these poor management of nation resourses and security.

How big the threat is?

Result Threat 1 .A TV report says it take 200 Rs to enter illegally from Bangladesh the common passage adopted by terrorist who come to bomb us, our leaders are not able to fix it. Result (threat) 2. With our naval forces & coastal guards doing war & alert exercises in sea the same day through same sea, enemies come & successfully attack us, our leaders are not able give hi-tech surveillance equipment to forces. Result (threat ) 3. We are suppose to have ' n' umbers of radars to protect our skies, still few years back aircraft takes off from Pakistan successfully crosses half the country breath and drops weapons in Purlia to support terrorist there, what was our so called security system doing ?, who knows how many such incidents happen & we don’t come to know of it. Result (threat) 4. What if terrorist enter the nations using the same very channels with atomic or biological weapons & put more than 25 lakh people to death threat in one go it might be the city I live in or u live in. Can we afford such a situation? As per recent India today publication our defense force don’t have required hi -tech weapons to fight enemy we may look big in front of Pakistan but what if China with whom we already had war turns hostile again .In fact china has seized huge territory of the country but politicians’ don’t want to talk about it. Our Navy after INS Vikrant went under maintenance does not have single other modern aircraft carrier war ship as on date, to acquire new it take 8 to 10 years going by past weapon buying experience, our army is having anti-missile & anti-aircraft system as old as used in World War-II. Though government talks of increased defense budget to tune of 33% but this major amount will go on hiked pay bill .Our neighbrouers both Pakistan & China have much higher defense budget in terms of percent to GDP than us. Security is one issue on other fronts like corruption, short visioned urban & rural infrastructure planning, dividing the society on caste lines will have far reaching negative effects on the country, and youths are turning to naxuliets in most of the states.

Solution

The Solution lies with you and me the politician is the breed of people who are willing to do anything to come to power they need vote, only voters need to have right kind of expectations from them or people with right kind of expectations should start voting . So it’s high time if we need security than we are the capable one to build right kind of expectations need to get out and start voting. Most of corporate leaders and professionals don’t go for voting, majority of them not willing to stand in those long ques and so on concerned authorities need to find a solution they must in whatever way involve this talent in voting .One way I suggest could be securely using the technology for net voting. When we can do securely financial transactions than why can’t we vote through net? Where in election commission can give every voter an option to be either a booth voter or net voter where people like us can opt to be net voters on doing this as we receive Net banking password the same way election commission can send us a voting password. Where voter id number could be login id together through password people can cast vote once casted vote through that password it should not be allowed repeating. In this process we can even vote while being away from constituency. Lots of cost on election will also come down.

But till anything like this happens we need to decide should we continue to betray the nation as a voter & continue to face such security threats or come out and start voting slowly but surely that will be biggest tribute to the nation & will make a great difference. So let’s play our role (hr role) for this country of 100 crore plus head count. Please vote & motivate other to do so you will be doing greatest social service to the mother land by this.
