espionage a wake-up call to put bureaucrats to intense scrutiny
No doubt Shri Singh has set a personal example of honesty, integrity and simplicity worth emulating. But there are questions crossing the millions of Indians as to why no action has been taken against the officers of Indian consulate in the USA for offering visa without examining properly the criminal antecedents of the terrorist Haidley, against officers on sharm al seik fiasco, against the minister solely responsible for price rise and IPL scams, against the persons at the centre who refuse permission to CBI (as claimed by its director) to file appeal in a politician's DA case, against a section of officers who are manning PMO, Rastrapati Bhavan, CVC, CAG office etc. who protect manipulative and corrupt officers by suppressing public complaints, against politicians who saved the govt. in 2008 and yesterday, due to their self seeking intrests etc. etc. There are many such instances for which the people want an explanation.
Today there is absolutely no organ of the Indian democratic structure which is not influenced by the corrupt.
An Australian PM can be penalized for breaking traffic rules. Two daughters of a US President can undergo punishment for under-age alcohol consumption but can anyone imagine this in India. The rule of law does not apply to this category. they are simply above law and the people are helplessly watching this with hope that one day not only incorruptible but a die-hard moralist will lead the country.
Madhuri Gupta case is tip of (corruption) iceberg.
