The world leading mobile phone chip supplier Qualcomm exhibited the terminal products powered by Snapdragon series processor at CES 2012 this year. Intel dominates the global chip market and Qualcomm is now attempting to challenge this obviously. Qualcomm not only announced the Windows 8 Tablet PC and Notebook but also claimed it would expand to smart TV market by cooperating with Lenovo.
Following the cooperation with Microsoft to launch the Windows Phone last year, Qualcomm joined hands with Microsoft again at CES 2012. In the opening speech, Paul E. Jacobs, CEO of Qualcomm, showed the high-speed broadband network Tablet PC, mode-switching device and Notebook for the first time. The PC products run on AT&T LTE network, feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor and support LTE and 3G/4G. Moreover, they are powered by Microsoft’s latest operation system Windows 8 which will make the device has lower consumption and longer standby time.
The newest operation system Windows 8 will be launched this year and it is regarded as the opportunity of Wintel (Microsoft + Intel) to revival. However, Qualcomm unreservedly responded to this at CES this year. Paul E. Jacobs said, as the biggest wireless chip and software technology developer, Qualcomm meets the demand of different levels devices by owing all-around chips and software products. With Snapdragon processor and Gobi action online solution and the other products line, Qualcomm has ability to provide strong support to Windows 8 completely. Additionally, Qualcomm is so far the unique developer whose chip supports Windows smartphone and PC at the same time.
Qualcomm has showed its attempt of being the leading chip supplier in the four areas of terminal product: Mobile, Tablet PC, Notebook and TV, in particular, the smart TV.Qualcomm has entered the TV market for the first time.
Paul E. Jacobs directly displayed the global first Android 4.0 smart TV which will be launched by Lenovo, telling the smart TV manufacturers that Qualcomm is coming.
