Aeronautical Engineering Lateral Entry, Anna University

Candidates with a diploma degree in Aeronautical Engineering are eligible to do graduation in the related field. They can do so by joining in the 2nd year of B.E. or B. Tech through the Lateral Entry Scheme. For this, the aspirants need to apply for the State Level Entrance Exam to get admission into any of the engineering colleges. The admission procedure will be dine according to the standard and conditions laid down by the Anna University.

Eligibility Criteria:
Those candidates who have scored 60 per cent or more in the diploma course from the State Board of Technical Education and Training or some other recognized institute are eligible to apply for the program. ST/SC candidates need to have a score of a minimum of 55 per cent only. For candidates in the backward categories, only a pass mark is required. Those students in their final year are also eligible to apply for this exam.

Reservation for B.E. Aeronautical Engineering Lateral Entry in Anna University:
Various Engineering colleges come under the aegis of the Anna University which provides admission to the students under the lateral entry system. Out of the total seats approved for engineering in each college, one-sixth of the seats are left vacant for the allotment of students under the lateral entry category. Out of the total lateral entry seats, 85 per cent are allotted as merit seats of the Indian Government and the residual 15 per cent is for the management quota. 40 per cent of the seats are reserved for candidates of the SEBC, OBC, PWD and SC/ST.

Applying for B.Tech Electrical Lateral Entry in Anna University:
For applying, the students need to attend an admission test which is being held across the state for Engineering courses. The duration of the test will be of 2 hours only. The exam will consist of questions on Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics of the XI and XII classes of the state board. Syllabus of the ICSE and CBSE will also be included. Candidates can get the applications from the Anna University or any other university that takes in students by means of the lateral entry scheme.

One of the main advantages of the students applying for the lateral entry scheme is that they don’t have to study the 1st year of graduation since they have already studied the basics in their diploma course of aeronautical engineering. And they will get to save a year as they are joining in the second year directly. Moreover, the students will find the lab exams much easier to follow since they are already experienced in it while doing their diploma course.
