The Common Entrance Test Karnataka (CETK) counselling for engineering courses has been postponed to 7^th July, 2011. So, this means you have to wait for some more days to decide on the engineering seats. The main reason for this postponement is because of the delay in sanctioning the engineering colleges in the state by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Previously, the CETK counselling was scheduled for 27^th June, 2011. State Higher Education Minister VS Acharya stated, “The counselling for admission to engineering colleges will begin from 7^th July in Karnataka. AICTE has promised that it will release the seat matrix by 28 June 2011.”

Last week, only 140 of the 189 engineering colleges in Karnataka had received AICTE sanctions. Still, the other engineering colleges are waiting to get their AICTE approval. The same thing happened last year, for which the Government had to postpone the CET engineering twice.

For courses in Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy, the AICTE approval is still pending. As stated by the reports, the State Ayush director is planning to get the seat matrix for the same as soon as possible. For these courses too, the counseling has been postponed and the dates are yet to be fixed. With apex bodies like the Medical Council of India and AICTE holding their order back is making many states wait for the seat matrix.
