How to Apply for an Overseas Education Course

If you are applying for an Overseas Education Course, you should first plan it properly. Universities abroad offer all kinds of degrees such as Undergraduates, Diploma, Certificates, Graduates and PhD etc. Selection of course, country and University is significant as students will have obligations in this area, so you need to choose it wisely. While choosing a course and country, you need to keep in mind that degree in some specific courses are honorable as for instance, doing MBA in UK. Frame with all prerequisite checklist required for your application depending on your type of education, country and degree. Based on the country and the University, you have respective requirements for each degree, so your application should satisfy these to get admission. You need to start preparing for it, one year in advance for the tests that you have to take for pursuing a course abroad. There are different exams depending upon the country and the course you take. Some of the important exams are GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, GMAT, SAT, LSAT etc. Depending on course and degree each country will require different exams to be undertaken. For example: IELTS for Australia, TOEFL/IELTS for UK etc., GMAT for MBA, SAT for Undergraduate programs. The score of the exam and your academic qualification plays a major role in the admission process.

The application process starts with the process of sending documents to the University you are interested in. You need to do this 6 months prior to the application deadline so that you it will raise the chances of getting scholarships or assistantship etc. You need to fill-in the hardcopy of application form online. You can pay for the application fee through credit card or through a draft. The application fee varies from country to country and university and in some countries, they don’t charge any application fee.
Mail all the documents required to the University, check the respective university website for application checklist. If you are sending through regular courier, check the postal address thoroughly before sending it.
You have to send your test scores depending upon the country. In some countries, you have to report the score officially through ETS and for some countries, you can send a softcopy or a hardcopy of the score card.
It takes about 4 to 6 weeks normally for a university to process application and take their decision. After processing the application, it issues the acceptance letter and then the admission letter (for USA, it is called as I-20, for UK, it is called offer letter etc. depending upon the country).
It will take about 2 weeks for you to receive the admission letter. Some countries do not issue an admission letter until you pay the amount of application fee or deposit fee. When you get the admission letter, you should check if it has your name, course and degree mentioned in the letter along with the date of reporting, if you get a scholarship, it will be mentioned in the letter.
