Dalhousie is a charming hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is surrounded by five hills. The station was built in the year of 1854 as a summer resort by the British people for the enjoyment of their troops. The resort town gets its name from the name of a the British Viceroy named Lord Dalhousie.
Dalhousie is located at an altitude of about 8000 feet from the sea level. The resort is very popular for its charming architecture and a number of beautiful churches. This hilly area is known for ancient Hindu temples, culture, handicrafts and art. This hill station is a less populated area with long pine and oak trees, favorable climatic condition and serene atmosphere. 1. St. Andrew’s Church:
It is generally called by the name of the Church of Scotland. The church possesses a great history as it was founded in the year of 1903 by Protestant Christians at Bahloon.
2. Panjpulla:
It is a natural reservoir which was built in the memory of a freedom fighter named Sardar Ajit Singh. It is located at a distance of 2 km from the town of Dalhousie.
3. Subhash Baoli:
It is a well known area which named on the name of a Subhash Chandra Bose who was a popular freedom fighter. It is located at a distance of 1 km from the town of Dalhousie. The area is surrounded by lush green trees and attracts a large number of tourists.
4. BaraPathar
It is a popular Hindu temple which is devoted to Goddess Bhulwani. The temple is located in the heart of dense forests and can be reached easily from the village Ahla.
5. Satdhara
Satdhara is a well renowned picnic spot located very close to Dalhousie. It is located at an elevation of about 2030 m from the sea level. Here the tourists will find several springs of hot water.
