The need for work experience before MBA

A master’s degree is a preferred choice for most of the students today. As the competition increases, the fight to be better than the rest becomes even more difficult. MBA is the need of the hour and most of the colleges admit students without work experience. The prospects of acquiring a job after MBA are many so for better career opportunities, students opt for MBA immediately after their degree course.

The entrance exams are vigil and even if you clear it, the interviews and group discussions are grueling. So the ones who make it to the finale are selected amongst a crowd and are well deserving. They have the enthusiasm and mindset of grasping everything that comes their way and satiate themselves with vast erudition. They are willing to accept change and do not have a stringent demeanor. Also MBA teaches them to have a neutral perspective because each angle of a case can be viewed upon. One cannot dent that there are students who excel in MBA even without prior experience.

But the benefits of having experience are plenty. You would have prior knowledge of the field you want to specialize in. As you have the experience, you would know your shortcomings and what is necessary to fill the gap. But if you are a fresher everything is new, making the right decision becomes arduous.

MBA involves practical lessons and case studies which are required to be performed in groups. Because of your endeavor at the workplace, you are familiar with the idea of groups and know how a team should function to deliver the most. At the same time, you can relate to the case studies and help yourself in a better manner because you have already dealt with such a situation and know exactly what not to do.

MBA is exigent. Your projects need to be completed on time with efficacy. When you are working you are familiar with deadlines and targets. Since you have already experienced pressure at work, handling pressure while studying becomes a painless sailing.

Work experience definitely gives you an edge over others and you emerge more confident than the rest. You can extract the most out of an MBA and take your career to new heights.
