Flexibility in work

A job profile where you work according to your priorities or time availability seems like an ideal job profile but there are pros and cons attached with flexible working hours. Flexible hours could be when you work from home, have smaller duration of shifts or report to work according your convenience.

The idea of flexible work hours is appealing but it can add load on your pocket. Often the employer makes this decision under compulsion as he/she has certain other duties to be fulfilled. When you work less, the salary may dip and payment could be on the number of hours that you contribute.

Working under authority makes you work in line with the time in hand. A manager is always present to lead you and takes care that you complete your task on time. Your work becomes more organized if a director directs your path. Also the manager can analyze the work and give accurate judgment if he/she stays in your close proximity. This analysis may take time if you work from home.

Working in isolation can make the person lonely. The motivation to keep on going descends as you do not have people to look up to nor can you have informal talks with your co-employees.

The advantage is that the stress levels diminish. Hence it negates any health issues that may arise from over work or stress. You work in your own pace and are not under constant surveillance. You can cater to other more important tasks before starting the office work. In this way you ensure that all the tasks are completed whether it is your personal or professional work.

As the work load decreases you have more time in hand which you can spend with your closed ones. If you finish your work, then the extra time can be utilized to regale.

Flexibility is a matter of convenience and is based on the priorities that one sets in life. The concept may go well with some but there are some who prefer a regular job. It is an individual decision and one should opt for it after taking into consideration its pros and cons.
