Is laughter the best medicine?
Laughter is really the best medicine, according to research presented
to the American College of Cardiology. Laughing appears to boost your blood
flow and researchers say it may reduce our risk of developing heart disease.
The researchers found that regular laughter in your life could help to
reduce your risk of developing heart disease, relieve hay fever, ease pain and
help control diabetes. They recommend 15 minutes of laughter a day as well as
regular exercise to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease (Cardiovascular
disease is condition in which blood vessels become damaged).
The benefit of laughing in its effect on the inner lining (endothelium) of the
walls of the arteries. The endothelium plays a vital role in maintaining blood
flow by regulating the diameter of blood vessels. Damage to the
endothelium is one of the factors involved in cardiovascular disease.
Let me share passed story of myself, when I was staying with my brother
near Airport. We used to go Airport in morning time. I used to go to practice
of bicycle. An elder person also used to come there daily at
the same time. He used to do something unusual. Every day he would stand up, he
would raise his hands towards the sky and start making loud sounds. I notice
this activity of the person every day. Day by day I was becoming impatient to
ask that person about what he does every day? Then one day finally I dared and
went to the person and asked him about his activity. I got surprised when he
smiled and told that he was laughing. He told that he was practicing laughter
therapy. I asked him the reason why he does it.
Then he explained me that “My child, God has made us so powerful that
we can even cure our own diseases without any outside medicine. Laughter
therapy is one of the best ways to remove all your diseases and sickness. When
a person laughs with full joy then the mind and body combine together and
release some magical chemicals which heal our body and cure all our diseases”. That
day I understood this great truth and I started following that man.
