"Mere Paas Maa (& Didi ) Hai!"
I stuck my
head out and said that the BJP would form the next Govt in India and I have to
admit that my ‘political head’ has
been ‘chopped off’ with the BJPs
defeat – though not a crushing one as made out to be, given that they have come
down by only 18 seats! Of course, though my heart was for the BJP the head was ‘ringing’
that it would be a Congress Sonia-Man-Rahul Govt. Well, the Congress as has
quite convincingly won and returned to rule for another five years!
I am awfully
glad that the ‘great pimps’ of Indian Politics – the Amar Singh’s, the Mulayam’s,
the Mayavathi’s the Jayalalithaa’s, the Paswan’s and Great Left Red-colored Outsider
Comrades have been defanged, left as toothless wonders searching for their
tongues - hammers & sickles! Trust the people of India to always make the
right choice! Kudos to the thriving democracy that is India!
Life is
always about learning lessons and passing them (like in each Class of School)
to make the next grade. For the BJP, the lesson would be that it’s enough of
extreme hard-line agendas and posturing. It is pregnantly posed to make the
gear-shift to positive attitude based all-inclusive politics. The ‘Lotus’ may
have inherent untouchable qualities, but people need to start picking it up! AB Vajpayee and LK Advani have done their job
and as they fade into the twilight of Hindutava, it’s up to new clever smart
thinking that would take the BJP to the next level – the immense opportunity
exists as the people of India have broadly given thumbs up to the National Parties!
The BJP should do the next best thing at
this stage – become the Best Responsible Opposition Party ever in the history
of India! Fight for good governance, fight for development of
infrastructure, fight for more power plants to be built, fight like hell for security
& freedom of the Indian citizens, but fight & debate positively!
This is wild thinking: Perhaps, for a
start the BJP, should make Varun Gandhi the ‘Leader of the Opposition’ to effectively
kill the hate speech issue and provide an opportunity for the ‘Other Gandhi’ to
grow in maturity & prove his debating skills in Parliament!
For the
Congress, The Dynasty is here to stay. Sonia grows in stature for sticking by the
impeccable, highly educated Manmohan Singh, who, from being a weak PM (it is a shame that he has never won an
election and has not contested this one either!) has learnt strong lessons
from LK Advani – his strength being the
Dynasty! With great power comes great
responsibility (said Spiderman?) and Manmohan Singh has no excuses this time, for
not unleashing economic & development stimulants across the Country. I Guess,
he has got the ‘All India Medical Sciences’ given sperm for that!
Rahul Gandhi
had struggled on his own to exit the cocoon woven by his Italian Mom and has
flown out like the Butterfly with its wings strengthened for flight (in the
process). His choices for the Congress in the Elections have made that extra
difference along with the wise thought of infusing youth into politics. He needs
to follow through ‘with action’ by getting his ‘young turks’ into the Cabinet
and throwing out the likes of AK Anthony & other non-performing ‘Old Timers & Old Cupboards ’.
He
definitely struck a chord somewhere! He is probably the future PM-in-waiting! Rahul has a fantastic family support system around
him! He
only needs to find himself a beautiful bride to fill his dimpled cheeks.
Meanwhile, for him it’s always going to be “Mere Paas Maa Hai” (and Mere Pass Didi Hai too!) Jai Ho!
