Not Worth Reading

Was flipping through the Times of India a few mornings ago, read about the Ex Chief Minister of Karnataka is back in jail from hospital, he sudden got chest pains after being accused of multiple money, lands scams..

Another write up that caught my eye, Anna Hazare who has suddenly become a naughty boy and since he ended his fast after an assurance from the government to table the Lokpal bill, he is now observing silence; I really didn’t bother to know why. I find him a spoilt child and the government is his unfortunate parents. I wonder where was this crusader when besides corruption, people were dying in the name of hunger and communal riots etc, all these years.

Anyway, so let’s look at other news as I turned the Times of India page. I read about the Shiv Sena chief Bala Saheb criticizing Rahul Gandhi and his lack of experience in becoming the PM. Then there is Advani and his last dying wish to be PM, even if it’s just for 10 minutes.

Now here comes the film section, Himesh Reshammiya who is working on getting six packs, Sanjay Dutt acting like a mental retard in big boss . Shahrukh Khan involved with his new movie RA.one which I think is a super flop. My opinion is he should stick with Karan Johar, making his boring love stores.

In the world news The Pakistani General warned the US that his country is a nuclear power and should think twice before attacking it and finally Muammar Gaddafi the Libyan ruled who was killed ruthlessly.

So much of news, so many things happening in India and around the world, I wonder how all this news benefits the common man. There is so much of wars going on in the name of terror at the Moment but what most people don’t realize is that thousands and thousands of innocent people have died.

So, who is the real terrorist, the Islamic extremist or the countries fighting them?

People killed in the invasion and occupation of Iraq vary widely

• Iraq Family Health Survey -151,000 deaths March 2003 to June 2006

• Lancet survey - 601,027 violent deaths out of 654,965 excess deaths March 2003 to June 2006

• Opinion Research Business survey - 1,033,000 deaths as a result of the conflict March 2003 to August 2007

• Associated Press - 110,600 deaths March 2003 to April 2009

• Iraq Body Count project - 102,417 — 111,938 civilian deaths as a result of the conflict. Over 150,726 civilian and combatant deaths - March 2003 to August 2011

• WikiLeaks. Classified Iraq war logs - 104,924 recorded Iraqi deaths, including 92,003[5] (or 66,081[6])

civilian deaths.

January 2004 to December 2009

Year Civilian deaths

2003 - 12,079

2004 -10,834

2005 -15,034

2006- 27,850

2007- 24,677

2008 -9,245

2009 -4,681

2010 -4,045

2011 -2,407

Who should take responsibility for all these deaths, they died in the name of “war against terror” but it was American bombs which killed most of them.

Countries spent billions on weapons and waging wars, what they won’t do is give it to the poor for better education and increasing jobs among the poorer countries. What we all fail to realize is terrorist breed among the poorer countries one reason is, it’s easier to rope in youth by promising them money.

Think about it, who would want to join a terror group, and blow himself up if he has a good job and a family. Well there are a few but the majority wont.

The answer to the ongoing problem in Pakistan and Afghanistan is not violence, what people need is a better education and quality life. But yet the Government of Pakistan and America including India will do very little to change this. They will spend billions on war but do very little for the poor. They can shoot, bomb and kill these terrorists but more will breed and the war will go on.

Defense budget

India - Defense Budget: $36,030,000,000

Pakistan: - Defense Budget: $6,410,000,000

Imagine what this money could do to the population of Pakistan and India if we didn’t spend it on war.

But who is listening?
