Crimea
I kind of find this man, Putin, very out of the ordinary. His small stature, pricing eyes and somewhat nervous posture seems to bring jitters to his counterparts across the globe. I correct myself, not the whole globe, just the Europeans and Americans. Why? Perhaps, because they keep stepping into his back yard, and he does not seem to be a man who is going to take things lying down.
It’s not uncommon for the Americans to make a country feel uneasy and this is apparent, looking at their military presence around the world.
There are volumes and volumes of history that shows Americans interference and now, with Russia, they are faced with their greatest adversary. America's history of interference is not new and it is supported by its people, well atleast by most of them. It gives them a sense of pride and a strong belief, that their country is leading in the fight for justice and freedom around the world.
On the other hand the Russians seem to be a quite and introverted lot, this meddling into their affairs keep waking the sleeping giant.
Crimea is now annexed by Russia. Europeans and Americans are crying foul, that it did not go through a diplomatic process and this is sort of an invasion into another countries sovereignty, Blah Blah Blah .
Lets us first go back a bit, only a couple of years, so that this article does not turn into a school history thesis on world history.
The Iraq invasions by the UK and US, on the threat that the late Saddam had WMD were a blatant lie and scores of innocent people were killed because of the US and UK bombing.
Now I would like to know are they, Bush and Blair going to face trial for war crimes? Guess not, they took out a Tyrant, Right? Restored goodness! So that the readers know, Iraq is in a bigger mess after Saddam.
I believe the whole episode of the toppling of Ukraine government in a coup and a new government, is approved by the US and EU is based on their own interest, and at the time they didn’t cry foul when it was done in an undemocratic way, however, when Crimea elected to be with Russia is a more civilized democratic process they are crying foul and trying to isolate Russia from the world.
Putin is still keeping his composer in the face of all this and still stating this was a legitimate annexure. I wonder why the UN is keeping quiet and no one is voicing support for Russia. Perhaps, this is in the fear that they too would be isolated?
The fact remains that further isolation of Russia is not the solution. The Reality, Ukraine without Crimea, its now government has brought this on themselves by over throwing the previous government in a coup.
The Ukraine government now has another issue to worry about and that is if Russia advances and it seems they are itching to do it.
Trans-Dniester is a narrow strip of land between the Dniester River and Ukraine's south-western border and it proclaimed independence from Moldova in 1990. This seems like an offer to ard to resist since the governing bodies asked to be part of Russia. Putin as a lot of thinking to do and the Ukraine government has a lot to fear about.
