iPhone 4 vs. iPhone 5

I think the iPhone 4 is a great piece of IT engineering. Unfortunately, it was released at a time when hand held engineering marvels are becoming something of a commonality, what with Samsung, Nokia and other competitors offering their own top notch phones. For this reason, the iPhone 4 just didn’t make such a big splash in sales.

1. Facetime calling: Facetime, though very well received, yet the hassle of it working over only an active Wi-Fi hotspot is a problem. iPhone 5 is rumored to be featuring Facetime support over cellular services.

2. Dual Power: every new smartphone being launched is offering a dual-core processor. Apple acquired PA Semiconductors last year, and a very possibly hint at a new dual-core architecture compared to the A4 single core architecture on the iPhone 4.

3. Say cheese: Sony is said to be manufacturing a 8-megapixel for the 5th generation of the iPhone, while the iPhone 4 has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash.

4. HD support: the iPhone 4 supports true 720p HD recording. The iPhone 5 is rumored to be having full 1080p support, with a micro-HDMI output on the side.

5. NFC enabled: Rumor has it that the next-gen iPhone 5 will act as a Near Field Communications device, and thus may be acting as your payment device, or a car key.
