Management guru Dr Pritam Singh pays tribute to Dr Anwar Ali

Dr. Anwar Ali, Director, IMT Ghaziabad recently passed away after a prolonged illness. On this sad moment,  management guru and faculty of eminence at MDI Gurgaon, Padma Sri Dr. Pritam Singh, who saw Dr Ali from close quarters in  their 16 years of association.

Dr Pritam Singh started in a sorrowful tone and said, 'I am extremely sad and in deep pain with the loss of such a great management hero. When this sad news was broken to me, I was in Bombay. I had a word with Mrs. Ali and she told me that now medicines have stopped working on Dr Ali. I comforted her by saying that when Dawa (medicines) stops working, Dua (prayers) starts working'.


Speaking fondly about the past memories, Dr. Singh said, 'I used to call him Mulla ji because of the reason that he came across as very simple person. I had spent 16 years of long association with Mulla ji and I cherish every moment spent with him'.


Dr Singh added, 'Dr.Ali never spoke ill for anyone. His life was very vast like an ocean. He has a place for everyone. Dr. Ali was a great team builder, an excellent teacher and above all a wonderful human being.
Talking about Dr Ali's contribution as an institution builder, Dr Singh said, 'Dr Ali built IMT Nagpur into a very fine institution. He built it from scratch. It is not easy to build a new B-school away from business hubs like Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore. But he did it.'


Talking about the time when Dr. Ali joined IMT, Ghaziabad as a director, Dr. Singh shared 'When he joined IMT Ghaziabad I got calls from staff members that they were happy to have someone like Dr. Ali to mentor them. They said that he is like a father figure and we can relate to him on a greater extent.'


'For me, Dr Ali was a colleague, a friend, a great builder and lot more than that. He was the gem of a person', Dr. Singh added.
