The fee for students who joined the B-school last year was Rs.8 lakh.
Although fees have increased but in comparison to other IIMs it is quite less. With IIM-Ahmadabad(IIM-A) raising its fees for 2010-2012 batch from 12.5 lakh to Rs.13.70 lakh. The fee at IIM, Bangalore has been fixed at Rs.13 lakh and IIM -C raised its fee from 9 lakh to 13.5 lakh.
The revision of fee had become necessary to defray the increase in expenditure needed for development of infrastructural facilities and the increase in operational costs following the pay hike for staff recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission. The decision to hike the fee was taken by the board of governors.
The institute has increased its intake of students to 300 in line with the Central government directive to provide for a quota for students belonging to the Other Backward Communities. However, deserving students would continue to enjoy scholarships. Last year the students received scholarships to the tune of Rs.2 crore and this year it is expected to be more.
