JIM Indore hosts workshop on emerging social networking platforms
Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM) Indore organized a special workshop on the topic of 'Building Individual and Organizational Competence through Social Media" at its campus on November 24 and 25, 2010.
The workshop commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Gautam Raj, Director, JIM-Indore. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raj said, “The awareness of utilizing the potential of social media is a must for every management student and professional today.” He gave details on how Jaipuria Institute of Management-Indore has included some of the latest digital business practices in its curriculum.
There were around 25 participants in the workshop. They came from Noida, Lucknow, Indore and other cities of Madhya Pradesh. The participants were a mix of people comprising of entrepreneurs, professionals, faculty members and students from different colleges.
The Program Leader was Prof. Arvindh Sundarrajan, Chairperson of Digital & Social Media at JIM-Indore and Chief Blogger at humantalk.in.
On the first day of the workshop, Prof. Sundarrajan gave a detailed overview of Twitter and Blogging. He demonstrated how to create Twitter account and do meaningful tweets. Further, he gave a detailed account on how to create blog and narrated its guidelines.
On the second day, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was discussed. All the participants were given a brief introduction on how they can optimize their web creations to obtain maximum publicity and attention of people around the world. In this way, they can promote themselves individually or their organizations on a global level.
The informative workshop was a treat for the Social Networking freaks and opened up new spheres of Social Networking Sites to them.
The two day workshop witnessed addresses on various key issues related to Social Networking arena such as ‘How Does One Navigate Around and Use New Networking Applications?’; How Does One Draw Personal and Professional Advantage from Them?’; Use of Networking Sites for Customer Services, Marketing and HR Activities, and ‘Identifying the Right Networking Service ?’
The core objective of the workshop was to understand the role of networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. in a business model for the growth of organization in terms of Marketing, Branding and overall growth of the business.
