Want your CAT score re-evaluated? File RTI
The Right to Information Act seems to be holding out hope for
candidates unhappy with their scores in Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009.
Speaking to the media, Satish Deodhar, convenor of
CAT committee, a pan-IIM body, said on Wednesday that a re-evaluation of CAT
scores was possible only if candidates asked for their score details through
RTI application. He maintained that the CAT 2009 scores were not flawed. At the
upcoming IIM directors' meet, however, the online test is likely to be
reviewed. A total of 2.17 lakh candidates across the country took the first
online CAT this year.
"We cannot allow students to take a look a
their test papers. It is not done in any test, be it an entrance test or university
exams. But if students file RTIs in case of any doubts about their scores, we
can ask Prometric to conduct a re-evaluation," said Deodhar.
About Prometric continuing with the contract for
online tests, he said, "The decision to take the test online and choice of
the agency was done by IIM directors collectively. So, they will decide the
fate of the online test and that of Prometric."
