The number of IIMs is going up. With just 7 till last year, the current number of IIMs is 10. To the list of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Calcutta, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Shillong, IIM Indore, the new and now functional IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak and IIM Raipur have been added this year. IIM Trichy is also likely to get functional by next year.

The number of IIMs is going up, and as a result the number of seats is also going up as well. Interestingly, the number of CAT test takers is going down year after year. In view of this the CAT 2011 exam is likely to become a good hunting ground for all IIM aspirants.
