Scenario of Food Security with Economic Development of India
Food security of a nation is ensured if all of its citizens have enough nutritious food available ,all persons have the capacity to buy food of acceptable quality and there is no barriers on access to food .The people living below the poverty lines might be food insurance all the time while better off. People might also turn food insecure due to calamity or disaster .Although a large section of people suffer from food and nutrition insecurity in India .The worst affected groups are landless or land poor households in rural area and people employed in all paid occupations and casual labors engaged in seasonal activities in the urban areas .The food insecure people are disproportionately large in some regions of the country such as economically backward state with high incidence of poverty , Tribal and remote areas regions more prone to national disasters etc .To ensure availability of food to all sections of security, the nation. The Indian government carefully designed food security system, which is composed of two component: {A} Buffer stock and
[b] Public distribution system.
In addition to public distribution system various poverty alleviation programmers were also started which comprised a component of food security .Some of the programmers are ;
[1] Integrated child development service
[2] Food for work
[3]Mid-day meals
[4] Antyodaya Aanaj yojana
[5]Annapurn yojana for BPL family along with disable people on subsidies rate.
[6] In addition to the above yojana the government of India start the eliminating in ensuring food security named MAHATMA GANDHI NATIONAL ROJGAR ACT[MNREGA],to provide the minimum 100 days employment to the remote areas and economically backward areas people. India is aiming at self sufficient in food grains. Indian policy makes adopted all measures to achieve self sufficient in food grains. India adopted a new strategy in agriculture which was named green revolution especially in the agricultural products such as wheat and Rice .Since the adverts of the green revolution in the early 1970’s the country has avoided famine even during adverse weather condition.
The government of India constitutionally provide the right 9+ of human being that nobody can die without food .To prompt action the states of India affidavit before the Supreme court of India and ensure the that if any people [citizen] will die without food the states will be fully responsible of this type of occurrence. This step will be milestone and expressed the will power of the states accountability to their people.
