1. Doesn’t the Asus package contain updated drivers for the SATA/ACHI/NB/SB etc?
Asus package does not contain all the components. AHCI and USB drivers have to be obtained from amd.com.
2. Why we have to install drivers from asus.com for ATI graphics card?
Actually the obvious difference is that Asus driver is faster than that from AMD.com. Therefore, for better performance and reliability, it’s recommended to install drivers from asus.com.
Now, I am going to tell you how to update ATI drivers for Graphics on Asus notebooks using the latest graphic drivers from Asus.com step by step.
Step 1
Go to Add/Remove programs, click ATI Catalyst Install Manager.
Note:
Most drivers for the notebooks used by manufacturers are usually dated 3 months or even way back, so we need to update them.
Step 2
Click “Express uninstall all ATI Software”.
Note:
This will remove Graphic/HDMI/SATA/Southbridge driver/USB and other ATI components
Once after you restart, it’s time to install the driver updates from Asus.com.
Step 3
Install the SATA/AHCI drivers when updating the new AMD Catalyst package.
Note:
If the package states that current SATA driver is installed after installation, then skip this step.
Step 4
Run the package.
Step 5
Restart the computer and you should feel noticeable improvements when loading Windows or opening a file.
After install SATA driver, it’s time to run the Asus drivers package. The package from asus.com will install display drivers, Vision Engine Control Centre, AMD APP SDK runtime, HDMI driver and north bridge filter.
Step 7
Download and extract the installation then run the setup.exe file. Select custom instead of express so as to install the north bridge filter driver.
Note:
If the installation does not detect north bridge, it’s normal and just continue with the installation.
Step 8
Install the USB filter driver package, it’s for USB to work properly.
