Presentation skills some tips

Hi, Here are some tips for presentations those I learnt during my experrience.

1. Preparations : As we need to speak in front of experience audience preparations should be thoughrough. Study the topics and literally byhard facts and figures. Prepare examples that you need to give. Practice properly to manage time. Some people prefere practicing in front of mirror. It helps for biginers.

2. Begining : Once you are prepared it is the time to deliver. Eventhough you are nervous, smile in front of your Audience. this starts informal communication. This makes your Audience and yourself comfortable. Introduce yourself with confidence. First impresion may be last impression so take advantage of it. Introduction should be short and sweet. Try to connetct your self with Audience. If you are in new city then try to corelate by saying why you like the city. Introcution should connect yourself with subject. This will make people listen to you. Tell your expertise in subject (How you studied it). This will give reason to listen to you. Then introduce the subject and do not foget to give reason as to why you are speaking on that subject.

3. Set the rules: As you are speaker you need to set the rules of the show. Tell your Audince to keep mobiles on silent or let them know if you are taking their questions in middle or at the end. This will give you edge and command you need.

4. Creat ecxitement: This requires special skill to creat excitement about your subject and about what you are goint to talk to your audience. Make sure that the audience should have some good takeaway when you finish your presentation. YOu need to communicate that there will great knowledge your Audience will be getting from the presentation. eg. If the presentation is on environment you can give example from history and geography when environment is neglected what happens and for same reason you are going to tell something about environment.

5. Flow: You should be aware of what flow you want to deliver presentation. the points should come in sequence. You should be aware of what slide will come next. It is advised that slides should show only points and you need to explain the points with examples. So that they will not waste time to read slides and will listen to you.

6. Body language: Keep streight. Use different postures. Use hands properly. Make sure to keep movements in control so that sudince will concetrate on what you are saying than to look at you what you are doing.

7. Take Pauses: Whenever you are talking remember to take pauses when you tell something important. This will give audience to absorb what you says and will give you the opprotunity to understand whether your audience is understanding the subject. If they are not getting explain again or ask if they are getting what is told.

8. Audience involvement: You need to involve your Audience with examples and asking questions. These can be hypothetical. Give examples which are closed to your Audience. Ask to share their expreriences. Kindly tell your Audience that you will get back to them in case you don't know answer for any of the questions and do get back to them.

9. Use of Powerpoint: Do use charts and graphs in presentation. This will be self explainatory for figures. If you are using film clip make sure it runs properly. Pictures speak luder than words. Martly use them. Do not hesitate to go back to previous slides to prove your point.

10. Time Management: remeber your and your Audience's time is very important. Finish your presentation in time. For that you shoul have command in your hand.
