Here I am back with another post, another set of questions for each Indian to give a thought on.

India is trailing China. The question is why? or more appropriately why shouldn't it be?
I will not dive into the statistics of comparing the GDP, Unemployment, Business Confidence etc. of the two countries. I would rather take an independent person's stand and think what the Gen Y of the country could do for the country.

While marketers have already understood the power that Millennials carry in their hands. Yes, you are the right, it's the smart devices. These devices have given them the power to make informed choices, engage with brands, make or break a brand image and what not!! Are Millennials themselves aware that they have got this power? May be they are. But are they aware how effectively can they use this? May be not. So, WHO'S RESPONSIBLE?

We the Gen Y ourselves are. We see problems in front of our eyes. We ignore them. Later we crib about them when it personally affects us if not then we feel sorry for a while and then move ahead expecting it to not happen to us. Is this a cultural thing? May be it is, may be not, why care? The point is we are "well trained" people and not "self-aware". Any leadership lesson emphasizes on "Self-Awareness".

"Gen Y has to under any circumstance be self-aware"

We have no time to live somebody else's life. We do not need to repeat the mistakes which our parents made, we should learn from them, move forward and make new interesting mistakes.
We engage. We resolve. We empower ourselves. It is the belief that a change can be brought about that can create a difference. If we can tarnish the image of a brand then why can't we bring about a positive change or rather positive disruption.

We have the power to "like", "comment", "share", "tweet", "re-tweet" so, should we also not use the power to vote? How difficult is it? Are we the generation that lacks information access? Clearly not. Before any news channel brings us information, it is us who have the power to spread the word using technology. We are the primary source of information so, why not become the primary users of the same information and make choice that we think is right! We do not need to come out on the streets to protest, we have intelligent devices to create a network for protest sitting at home, without interrupting any business or breaking any law. So, what's the fear? Where's the gap? The answer is lack of "self-awareness". Know thyself. Gen You!

Meet you next time with some more thoughts...
